Help us save our soft play centres!

Under current government restrictions released this afternoon, Soft Play Centres in Scotland are still not allowed to open to the public and do not have a confirmed date for when they will be allowed.

The Scottish Government have allowed cafes, restaurants and bars across the country reopen - as well as cinemas, swimming pools, gyms and nurseries. In fact 96% of businesses   In Scotland are now trading again. Meanwhile, our soft play centres, many which are small family-run businesses, are left empty and unable to make any money. Unable to support their staff, trying to survive until the restrictions are lifted.

They have repeatedly confirmed that children under 12 do not need to social distance nor wear masks. Our children are in school, at the park, in childcare. They are in swimming pools and cinemas, in restaurants and cafes. So why can’t they go to soft play? Many families rely on soft play centres to provide their little ones with stimulation and socialisation - and to get a little break with an actual hot coffee for once!

Please sign the petition to implore our first minister to:

a) Give soft play owners and the communities they serve an explanation as to WHY soft plays are still closed and are any more at risk of transmission of COVID-19 than any other venue.

b) reconsider the continued closure and allow us to begin trading again with the necessary precautions in place!

b) If she refuses to let us open, provide financial support in the form of 80% extended furlough to retain staff and grants to cover rent, bills and taxes.
