Pay student nurses for the work they do
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
Nurses who have taken a career break and want to regain their registration with the Nurses and Midwives Council have to undertake a manditory work experience placement within NHS Scotland. For some this means having to work up to 450 hours - that's 12 weeks at 37.5 hours per week. However, they don't get paid a penny for their work. These students are experienced nurses who, in the course of their work experience, will add their skills and expertise to help those they are caring for. However, if these nurses cannot manage working full-time for 12 weeks without being paid, the chances are that NHS Scotland - in dire need of trained nurses - will lose them forever. In order to retain these nurses - and to show that they are valued - they should be paid appropriately.
