Change/remove hair rule at Providence High school

Change/remove hair rule at Providence High school
Why this petition matters
Here at the Providence School of Jacksonville we believe that us young men should not be defined by our hair but by the purity and kindness in our hearts. As young men, we believe that we should be able to express ourselves as well as our character through our looks. As the school has the power to control what we wear, many students feel that us boys should at least be able to choose the length of our hair. We as students would not take full advantage of this rule. With the acceptation of making the hair rule longer, new rules would enforce that the length of the hair would not be below the eye brows and no longer than shoulder bone length. I believe that many more students would attend providence if they did not feel worried about the length of their hair. Most people in the Bible like Jesus, Samson, Moses, and many more had long hair. At Providence, we have learned to follow and be just like Jesus. 1 Samuel 16:7 says "But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” We as students understand the intentions of Providence school's rules. As well as the goal in wanting to make the students look professional. However, I believe that we as young men are more than responsible in being able to keep a presentable, hygienic profile while at the extent of being accepted for our hair regardless of the length. In the saying this, we promise to not take advantage of these circumstances, but to be grateful for the opportunity of our voices to be heard.
