I am a homeowner in SZf and was born and raised in SF. I have seen the city go through many changes, some good, some bad, but the homelessness situation is by far the worst. It is not safe for children to walk (with parents) to school as they must dodge urine puddles, decal matter & drug paraphernalia. You can’t go to a park fir all the same reasons, a bus stop can be a dangerous and filthy place at this point. San Francisco cannot be left yo rot away under human forces and homeless encampments. The homeless needs help, YES, but so do every day citizens who have homes and want to feel safe while walking out their front door and down the street. Something has to change now.

Encampments are not the answer and a pandemic is not the time to allow this to grow to every block in the city.

My heart led me to San Francisco in 1994 and I have loved it dearly since. To see it in this stage of deterioration is heartbreaking. The mounting homeless population is a many faceted problem which needs humane, masterful, creative leadership to plan and carry out solutions. We need active support from our citizens, our businesses and institutions to organize and work with our
leaders in the search for ways to bring our city back from despair.
It is a problem that belongs to all of us and we will lose much more than we already have if we don't start working together now!
