Get Statistic and Research Methods to Count for 4 Credits a Semester
Why this petition matters
Despite a lab period being added to the research and statistics class for the 2021-2022 school year, a required class for Salve Regina Psychology major, no credits were added for either semester. However, a credit will be added per semester for those who take this course in the 2022-2023 year and the years following. The students who took this class this year, most at the recommendation of their advisors, are doing not only the same amount of work as classes in the future, but are being used as an "experiment" to figure out if this new structure for the class even works. It is extremely unfair to put students through the same classes and curriculum but not give them the proper credit simply due to them being the experimental class and not the class the following year. Salve Regina Psychology majors have to work their entire schedules around this statistic class both semesters, including this lab period that has to be the same section both semesters but are not receiving the same accommodations and academic credits that future students will receive. This is a mandatory class and we are just receiving this news after all of us have gone through the first semester locking us into wanting to finish the class this year. The Dean of Students should ensure that all Psychology majors who completed this course in the fall semester of 2021 and the spring semester of 2022 should receive the extra credit for the lab period that future students will be receiving.
