Hannah Weatherwax started this petition to The Sage Colleges

The Sage Colleges recently announced they have cancelled the traditional 2020  commencement ceremony. This includes all degrees earned for undergraduate, graduate and and doctoral students. Due to the unprecedented events regarding COVID-19, the college informed their students they "do anticipate running a commencement ceremony but may do so in an altered format".  Many students planned for a postponed date and not a virtual event; four of the five local colleges have committed to recognizing the hard work of their students by postponing their traditional commencement ceremonies to later this year.

As a school that takes pride in diversity, first generation college graduates, and passion of their students, it is disappointing the college did not offer a future date to their students.  Although we respect the offer of being able to walk with the class of 2021, this will not be the same as walking with our current class and together celebrating our efforts and achievement. Students have worked for years knowing this celebration would commence Sage life.

Please consider supporting The Sage Colleges' graduating class of 2020 in having a traditional Commencement scheduled this summer or fall allowing us to proudly wear our caps and gowns, walk the stage and be recognized for our hard work and dedication.

Please help bring light to this matter for our seniors at The Sage Colleges by signing this petition!
