Allow us to make a choice about the future of our school

This petition had 1,008 supporters

We want our school to be able to retain its highly valued and unique culture and ethos.   It is one of the longest running schools in the country and has a history of open door interaction with parents and genuine pastoral care for the children.

Our school does not have a history of underperformance and indeed on the last Oftsted report it was stated

"The headteacher, ably supported by senior staff, leads with passion and care. The governing body and staff share high ambitions for the school and a realistic appraisal of its strengths and priorities for further development. Since the previous inspection, the staff have driven forward several school improvements"

Our school is progressing and needs no forced intervention.  We want the voice of the parents to be respected and heard and to keep our democratic right to have a say in the running of the school.  We want to be able to support and play a part in the school improving and developing in line with the well established culture and ethos.

We value our school environment and our teaching and governing body - and want them and the parents to have the opportunity and time to discuss all the options for Bisham going forward and be able to make an informed choice about its future - and not be forced into something at short notce just because this suits LEA and government targets.

We may choose to become part of an academy but that should be through informed choice which we make after having a suitable period of time to consider and choose.  This should not be the outcome of tactics and force by outside bodies.
