PC Wayne Marques to be awarded George Cross

The George Cross is the highest award that can be bestowed on a civilian for bravery.
During the recent London Bridge terror attack PC Marques single-handedly confronted and engaged with all three perpetrators who were armed with knifes whilst he only had a baton. Despite being wounded seriously to his head, leg and torso and temporarily blinded; he continued, with no regard for his own safety, until other officers arrived.
To be willing to sacrifice himself for others is the highest form of bravery and public service and I call upon the Prime Minister to recommend the distinguished and rare award of the George Cross to PC Marques, British Transport Police.
