Our Armed Service people need suitable housing, not slums.

In 2006 the MoD went into a Prime Contract for the repair and housing of our Armed Service personnel but it could never achieve the needs of those it was supposed to help, our Armed Service personnel. As the Last Property Manager with Defence Housing for the London Area I knew that we were being lied to by those above us and that it would never work. Over the years since it came into force poor quality housing has been the mark of nearly every move in for families, with dirty quarters, filthy carpets and what one can only describe as slums at some times. Gone were the pristine clean paintwork, clean appliances and carpets but rather houses have been robbed to make other quarters up to grade with a lack of spares for boilers etc. Our Armed Forces deserve a respectable clean dwelling in which to bring up their families, and don't we all want the best for them. How can they be expected to put their lives on the line if their families are not happy, or how can they concentrate on the job at hand if they are worrying about loved ones.
