For the last 50 years the government has been promoting a low fat, high carbohydrate diet which has increased the populations heart attacks and obesity rates. The children are getting the worst of it because parents think they are giving them a healthy diet. Heart specialists and GP's are now waking up to the fact that this is incorrect, and a healthy diet is low carbohydrate and high fat. Research shows this is the case and the low carb diet is now being advised to treat epilepsy and diabetes as well as other illnesses which also benefit from this type of diet. Diabetes.co.uk are actively promoting the diet on social media and people are becoming aware that this way of eating is not just a diet to aid weight loss, but should be adopted as the healthy way of eating for everyone. The government needs to stop promoting a low fat diet, do some research and help people to realise that our bodies need and thrive on healthy fats.
