Comission an Independent Inquiry into the Introduction and roll out of Universal Credit

The roll out of universal credit has left thousands of vulnerable people out of pocket and often waiting months to receive money rightfully owed to them or worse not receiving it at all, Myself and my partner included. The repeated refusal of the government to halt the roll out of the benefit until a full review can take place despite growing evidence means that more and more people are ending up in this situation by the day often leaving people in severe amounts of debt to the point of homelessness in some cases.
The DWP and HM Government have little to no accountability for their actions bolstered by a confusing complaints process run in house. These flaws and delays are further compounded by a long winded appeals process that means those who are refused entitlement whether rightly or wrongly are left waiting weeks for a decision.
The situation is even worse for couples claiming universal credit, something myself and my partner experienced first hand when migrating from two single claims to a joint claim our money was effectively cut in half leaving us struggling to pay our rent and keep food on the table.
This is why with your help I am calling for an immediate block on further roll out of Universal Credit full service to areas not yet receiving this until a full, independent review taking into account the views of service users has been undertaken to identify the flaws within the system and propose reforms to ensure a fair service for all users.
