Jake O'Neill started this petition to The Royal Parks

The freedom to walk your dog off lead in Bushy Park has been taken away from you for the months May June & July. This is a freedom that has been available to you since the mid nineteenth century when the park became open to general public use. We are told this basic freedom is being withdrawn to protect both the deer during their birthing period, and dogs and their owners.

Withdrawing this freedom is not proportionate to the proposed problem. Should the park authorities want to take away this freedom, they should, at the very least, have a consultation with Bushy Parks dog walkers, and be able to present verifiable data that shows a marked increase in this danger, that they claim the banning of walking dogs off leads will solve.

A compromise is to allow dog walkers to walk their dogs off lead to the West of Chestnut Avenue and to the North of the woodland gardens. The vast majority of birthing takes place to the East of Chestnut Avenue.

You should sign this petition because: You or your friends have a dog. You are a park user using the park for other activities (cycling, running, picnicking etc) it will be your freedoms next. You are concerned about the pervasive apparent temporary removal of freedoms that have now become permanent since covid.
