By the time we realised it was restricted we were already crossing the traffic lights from Claremont road. Dangerously stuck back of car still over function with only safe option to carry on going into Surbiton Crescent. Got fined. Not possible to reverse back out of Surbiton Crescent safely.

The signs are misleading and this is basically a tax on local residents

I was fined for going down this road, I was following my sat nab and didn't see the signage. There is no obvious signage or reason for the road to be restricted.

Just paid a fine, for the crime of not holding up the other traffic behind me when seeing the signs at the very last second. What a cynical cash cow scheme.

The Council has NO legitimate reason to maintain this ludicrous and pointless traffic restriction, which is achieving nothing in terms of road safety or improved traffic flow, and continues to exist solely to boost the Guildhall's finances by several million pounds per year (money extorted from already hard-pressed, over-taxed motorists).

If there was an ounce of morality left among the borough's tainted councillors, they would have kicked this ill-conceived scheme into the long grass at he end of its trial period. But of course, our so-called elected representatives will do no such thing, as long as the Surbiton Crescent traffic restrictions continue to be such a fat cash cow. Whatever happened to common sense, honesty and public duty?
