The idea of identifying your race on forms and applications is misleading. Many Americans are of diverse heritages, many are biracial and some of several races. What is race, anyway?  A social construct, they say.
The options given on race identification are limited and forces people to misidentify and this does not feel authentic. It is divisive and seems to deter a feeling of nationalism. 
Why is race identification even necessary? I have heard the argument that it helps the government allocate funds. However, by the looks of the inner cities around the nation, I beg to differ. Other developed nations don’t require race identification on applications and forms. I think this practice is outdated and non-progressive.
I believe many Americans agree. If this petition is successful, all Americans will be feel included and this could change the workforce and eliminate profiling.
