ATTENTION!! The 8th grade students of Middlesex Middle School are facing a serious issue.
Our teachers and principal have decided to create a rule that prevents all students from using the bathroom during any class periods.

According to the rule, students are expected to use their 3 minute passing time in the hallway when a bathroom trip is needed. In the event of an emergency, students must get a special pass from their teacher that allows the student to use the nurse’s bathroom.

The faculty’s reasoning behind this is that’s students have been using bathroom trips during class to fool around in the hallways and waste time in the bathrooms themselves. Although this may be true in certain cases, the majority of kids simply want to use the bathroom!

The problem that arises in this case is, what about the majority of students that have not been abusing their bathroom trips? Many students can agree that going to the bathroom is a fundamental right, and to be honest, a necessary bodily function, and is in no way a privilege that can or should be taken away.

In addition to this, 3 minutes in the hallway is not nearly enough time for a student to go to the bathroom, get everything they need for their next class, and make it to said class all before the bell rings.

Also, the human body does not operate on the school bell schedule, and in the event that a student suddenly must go to the bathroom during class, they will either be denied the ability, or they will have to go through the unnecessary and embarrassing process of getting a pass to the nurse!

If we are not part of the problem, don’t take away our rights. Bathroom access is not a luxury.

Sign this petition now to get our school faculty’s attention, and earn back our right to use the bathroom during class.
