UK Only Passport lanes at airports and ports of entry.

British airports could ease congestion upon arrival for British citizens by re introducing UK Passport lanes only. The EU already has tougher restrictions and British citizens abroad, in the EU and elsewhere face long queues at airports. Thousands of tourists alone have been forced to queue for hours at EU airports. Airlines and Airports are blaming this on a new EU regulation on passport checks for the delays. According to the Telegraph Newspaper:
''The more detailed checks began in May and apply to British citizens because the UK is not a member of the open-borders Schengen zone, but with millions of UK holidaymakers hoping to go away over the next few weeks, the delays show no sign of letting up.
However, one Tory minister said UK airports should bring in lanes solely for British passport holders.
The unnamed minister told the Telegraph: "We should consider British-only lanes in the UK if they want to behave like that.
“Border controls should be based on reciprocal relationships. If it abuses this reciprocity we should have British only lanes."
It is only fair to the British traveller, that their passports are checked in a single UK passport lane. This is not about treating other EU citizens with a lack of respect, but easing congestion at airports. British citizens used to be checked relatively quickly at passport control, the situation now is tighter security for all. Whilst this is important, surely, it makes sense to check EU passports in their own lane, this would then ease congestion and introduce stricter security where needed.
