Art Matters. Restore the ministry of arts.
Art Matters. Restore the ministry of arts.
The arts matter to all Australians.
Art is essential to the growth of our children and of our society.
Our quality of life depends on a desire to support, encourage and sustain Art and Culture.
Australia has produced exceptional artists In all the facets of creativity who sit proudly amongst their peers on the world stage.
Artists, sculptors, actors, musicians and the multitudinous people who work behind the scenes to create important and significant art, are trained and nurtured in the Australian educational environment.
Mr Morrison and his party have made a unilateral decision to remove the Department of the Arts.
This is not simply the act of a government wishing to streamline its services.
It a huge and deeply troubling statement about how our government sees it’s emerging narrative.
Being an “artist” has never been easy in a young ( by white standards) country, which is still growing and emerging as a cultural force on the world stage.
We have much to be proud of and much to do to continue our creative journey particularly with our indigenous brothers and sisters.
Mr Morrison, I humbly ask you to reconsider your decision, and restore our Arts department.
