Greetings,

WE the citizens of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and residents of the Exuma community find it imperative to protest the current state of affairs at the L.N. Coakley High School, Exuma, Bahamas. As it stands, there have been a significant number of student dropouts this semester. Alarmingly, this has been the current trend since 2015.

WE the citizens of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and residents of the Exuma community are dissatisfied with the high number of students being repeated each semester at L.N. Coakley High and in some instances up to three (3) years in the same grade.

WE the citizens of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and residents of the Exuma community are dissatisfied by the actions undertaken by Principal Don Barr to excessively, repeatedly and indiscriminately enforced a policy to repeat students and in some instances for more than 2 years

WE the citizens of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and residents of the Exuma community are also dissatisfied by the actions undertaken by Principal Don Barr to enter students into legal contracts with the Ministry of Education if the student parent(s) refuses to comply with having their child repeat. The latter judgement of this contract is that: the student upon completing the 12th grade will not be granted a high school diploma nor a leaving certificate.

WE the citizens of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and residents of the Exuma community are dissatisfied with the high number of students leaving L.N. Coakley without a diploma or leaving certificate.

WE the citizens of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and residents of the Exuma community are dissatisfied with the excessive financial burdens being placed on parents and the resulting social implications  as a result of the actions undertaken by Principal Don Barr . Likewise we are dissatisfied by his callous disregard and lack of concern for the domino effects caused by his actions.

WE the citizens of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and residents of the Exuma community call for the removal of Principal Don Barr and his administration team at the L.N. Coakley High School.

We implore The Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and The Minister of Education, to address this matter with due diligence and to bring swift remedy.
