The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is to investigate 14 referrals detailing allegations of corruption in the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) in relation to child sex offences dating from the 1970s to the 2000s.
We demand the Prime Minister protects police and intelligence officers who give evidence over the alleged VIP paedophile ring in Westminster by giving them immunity from the Official Secrets Act for the purpose of the inquiry.
The allegations, referred by the MPS, include:
Hindering or halting investigations;
Covering up the offences because of the involvement of members of parliament and police officers.
Sarah Green of the IPCC said "these allegations are of historic, high level corruption of the most serious nature.
BBC Newsnight recently revealed allegations that police officers working on a child abuse inquiry had their evidence removed from senior officers and were threatened with being charged with offences under the Official Secrets Act if they spoke out.
We believe it is the duty of all former police and intelligence officers as well as civil servants to share their knowledge with the inquiry.
