Thousands of South African Students coming from financially challenged and underprivileged families rely on the financial aid scheme NSFAS which is an institution of the Department of Higher Education and Training.

These students have applied for funding in order to get assistance in terms of tuition fees, accommodation and other relevant allowances, while some of them were not approved due to their failure to meet the NSFAS academic criteria, the approved majority are subject to negligence from NSFAS.

Their current system and administration is a flop, a terrible system that has a huge but impact on the wellbeing of funded students.

NSFAS takes forever to respond, escalate and solve the most critical queries, a student can wait forever to get their allowances or have their wallet unblocked/unlocked.

The turnout time is very disappointing for an institutions of its calibre, we call on the relevant authorities to act swiftly on the resolution of the poor administers at the NSFAS.

NSFAS must respond to all queries on time, students are in dire need of their allowances, they need their wallets unblocked, their queries must be attended to.

An excellent administration must be enforced in their system, and NSFAS and the DHET must prioritise the TVET sector and treat with all the respect due.

TVET students should also be prioritized at this time when NSFAS is giving Digital Learning Devices to its beneficiaries at a University level.
