Make Proof of Vaccination Mandatory with Home-School Applications

With the Federal Government ‘No Jab, No Pay’, and ‘No Jab and Play’ laws coming into effect, I have noticed that many Anti-Vaccinating families are indicating their intention to turn to Home Schooling, Unschooling or Distance Educating their child/children as a legal loophole around this. Home Schooled, Un-Schooled and Distance Educated children are out in the wider public more than brick and mortar schooled children. If they were to come in contact with a vaccine preventable disease, it has the potential to cause a public health issue by spreading that disease around. An outbreak of Whooping Cough, Measles or other contagious disease like these would be devastating. Those too young to be vaccinated, the immunocompromised, the sick and the elderly are most at risk and we all know these disease can be fatal or cause permanent disabilities. These fatalities and disabilities can be prevented through vaccinations.

The choice to Home School, Un-School or use Distance Education should be made based on the parent/s choosing that form of education as the best for their child/children, not as a means of not providing medical treatment to their child/children because of false belief.

I petition the State Government to:
(a) make changes to the Home Education Policy under the School Education Act 1999, for all applications to Home School, Un-School or Distance Educate children in WA to contain proof of vaccinations or proof of medical exemption from vaccination. All applications without this be automatically denied;

(b) updated proof of vaccination or medical exemption to be supplied yearly to the moderator or to the Department of Education WA;

(c) require all currently registered for Home-Schooling, Un-Schooling and Distance Educated families in WA to provide proof of vaccinations or medical exemption to keep approval for Home-School, In-School or Distance Educate

We all have a moral obligation to protect those around us who cannot get vaccinated, by keeping these diseases away through vaccinating. Vaccinations save lives. This is a country wide issue that affects all of us. We must take a stand against the lies told by anti-vaccinating supporter. As a mother, I take protecting my child very seriously. I'm starting this petition to protect our children, our community and our country.
