Why this petition matters

Started by Pay Mase

Black Americans have been locked out of receiving and achieving financial wealth since the founding of this country largely in part to the fact of this nations systematic racism. However in the past 60 years the black American community has experienced an influx of black millionaires despite the ongoing state of systematic racism and wealth hoarding by the United States government. Even with the massive rise of black American millionaires the black American community still only posses .1% of the nations wealth the same amount held after slavery. Our stunt in economic growth is not only the fault of the racist tyrannical system of white supremacy but also that of black gatekeepers who play the role of proxy slave masters. Recently at a Clive Davis party Puffy made called out the unfair treatment of Black American artist at the Grammys. While many people applauded and championed Puff for calling out the Grammy board some people thought his speech to be hypocritical to say the least. Former Bad Boy artist Mase took to his Instagram to address the unfair treatment in which he experienced as a 19 year old signing to Puffys label along with the unfair treatment he faces 26 years later. Our goal is for Puffy to put his money where his mouth is and to properly compensate and do right by Mase and any other artist he may have signed by returning them their publishing. We at pay Mase agree with the speech that Puffy made in regards to treating black American artist fairly however before we can demand and expect the dominant society to treat us fairly and with respect we have to practice that same level of fairness and respect with others. #paymase #nomoreslavedeals
