Heather Miller started this petition to The People of Maine

I'm starting this petition as a small-town mom and a concerned lifelong Mainer. Janet Mills has been our governor for just over 100 days and has shown us her true colors after being elected. During her campaign, Mills assured us she was against the Central Maine Power line to benefit Massachusetts. She has jumped sides and has even refused a Democrat-sponsored bill by her own party to slow down and study the project further to be assured this project will truly benefit the environment, although that is what she claims the project does. Her first veto last week was to override a 100% approved (by committee, House and Senate of both parties) bill to ban the use of gasoline that contains more than 10% ethanol to protect the people and environment of Maine. Such gasoline is not currently sold in Maine but is being strongly considered by a chain gasoline seller with 40 locations in Maine. There is the matter of spending. Instead of putting the voter-approved expansion of Medicaid (Mainecare) in the first of her 2 year budgets, Mills elected to draw the amount from our Rainy Day Fund, which serves as Maine's protection cushion. She has made 2 draws from this account in her first 100 days, despite campaign promises to protect the funds. The Mayor of Portland is working to have Portland become a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants and is currently filled to the max with legal immigrants seeking asylum. His office is currently working with Janet Mills' office to provide welfare benefits to the asylum seekers, ahead of our own Maine citizens currently waiting the right way in the system that includes young families with children, elderly and veterans. We need to take care of our fellow Mainers before we can help others. Yesterday, May 7th, the governor-supported bill to have our tax dollars help fund abortions that are not medically necessary advanced through the House. Medicaid, or Mainecare, already covers abortions for cases of rape, incest and those deemed necessary to preserve the mother's health. This comes with a pricetag of $1.4 million for us taxpayers. Mills also wants to expand Medicaid to another 70,000 Mainers, which is sure to have another significant cost for taxpayers. Professional budget analysists have warned her first 2 year budget of $8 billion is not sustainable for our state. Once the Rainy Day Fund is spent, where will the money come from to sustain these expansions, since she has promised not to raise taxes? Maine is currently the 3rd highest-taxed state in the nation. What do we have to show for it? Our roads are crumbling, and just in the last week, several road repair projects were canceled because we can't afford the cost, but we're expanding welfare to non-citizens, housing illegal immigrants and demanding our money go towards medical services that many of us don't support instead of road upkeep. The state of Maine chose to put Janet Mills in charge. She's elected by us to work FOR US. And yet, despite the state-wide outrage over the CMP line, she is disregarding what her people want, even those in her own political party. We have no say in the CMP line. We have no say if taxes are increased to cover illegals, migrants over citizens and our tax dollars being used for what many see as non-necessary procedures and her out of control spending. Projections are poor for her 2nd 2 year budget. I love our state. I'm married to a fellow Mainer and we are raising our 4 children here. But to have a leader that puts her own agenda above the needs of her citizens, to support illegals over citizens and to turn away from our voices is wrong. If or when these things come to pass, we will consider leaving Maine. Please consider signing my petition to voice your disapproval thus far. We still have 3.5 years to go and I strongly feel Maine could collapse under Janet Mills. These are also things that incoming families will consider when deciding if Maine is the best place to raise their families. I humbly ask for your support in making our voices heard. Maine should continue being known for our beautiful scenery, lobster and freedoms, not illegals, death by taxes and no say in what happens in our state. This is how change happens. Thank you for reading.
