The ultimate goal should be defunding and abolition of the Concord Police, but before that can happen a good first step would be disarming them. There has not been an officer feloniously killed in the line of duty in Concord or the seven surrounding towns since 1894, and in Concord, an officer has never been killed in the line of duty. If this is true why are all our officers walking around with guns? According to the FBI, in 50% of cases where an officer was killed in the line of duty they did not even have time to draw their weapon, meaning that in 50% of these killings a weapon would not have been a savior. It is no secret that Concord has a low crime rate, and it is actually 6.5 times less than the national average. With these facts in mind, ask your self why do our police need guns? Do they actually help to keep people safe, or just instill fear? What could the funds for the firearms and firearms trainings be allocated for to make a bigger positive impact on our community?
