Deny the movement of 300 Grassfield High School students to Great Bridge High.

The Chesapeake Public Schools School Board wants to transfer 300 Grassfield High students to another school in the area- Great Bridge High.

This move would put Great Bridge at capacity, while enrollment at Grassfield High School will fall to 75 percent. The loss of 300 students from Grassfield (many of which are in music programs such as band, orchestra, and chorus and compete in school athletics) would place the quality of many extra curricular programs at this school in jeopardy.

In addition, students at Grassfield, particularly those who have been there for several years, have carefully selected current and future courses based on the offerings available at this school. Switching schools in the middle of a student's high school career can disrupt their course of study at a critical time while they are preparing for future college or career ambitions.

The Great Bridge High School stadium is not in good repair. There is currently no funding to repair or renovate it.

This rezoning option does nothing to relieve the overcrowding in Hickory. There are neighborhoods closer to Great Bridge High school than those mentioned in Option 3 that currently do not attend this school.
