Lonnie McCallister started this petition to The People of Bentonville and Benton County Arkansas

We are being attacked again by the same change.org petition that wants to remove the James H. Berry monument and statue again.  facing this again by those who hate.

James Henderson Berry was more than a Second Lieutenant in the Confederate Army. He served in the Arkansas House of Representatives and also served as Speaker of the House. He was the 14th Governor of Arkansas. He was an advocate of minority rights and often acted to defend people of color. Later in life he worked as an Attorney in Bentonville where he died.

James Henderson Berry is a part of our history and there is more to the man's history than having been a Confederate Soldier. For him, the call was about protecting states rights and the 10th amendment...not protecting slavery. He feared the Federal Government was gaining too much power over the states.

So, when one of these history revisionists asks you to sign a petition for the removal of his statue from our town square, please feel free to give them a lecture on who James Henderson Berry really was and tell them to stop trying to revise our History.

We, the undersigned, reject/condemn ANY and ALL racists hate groups, of any shape or size...and we are calling for the Statue & Monument to stay in & on the Bentonville Arkansas Town Square, right where it stands currently. I urge everybody to sign this petition to save our Statue against these change.org petitions to remove them.
