Get enough signatures to present to Starsha Scott's parole board
Hello, my name is Starsha Scott. I am a 36yr old African American woman who has been done a grave injustice. Here I sit after 21 years of incarceration asking for help because me and my family are desperately in need of it! I am currently serving a life sentence in the Georgia Department of Corrections. In May of 2000 my 18yr old cousin blackmailed me into walking to a Citgo Gas station that was across the street from our apartments. I was 15 at the time. He had me stand off to the side of the store in some wooded area to wait for him. ( I never went inside the store and was probably over 200ft away). After my cousin went in I heard a shot go off and I left. Soon after he followed me. He made me throw my clothes away and later that day he made me go with him as he spent the $300 from the victims wallet and use his credit cards. It appeared that we both were using the credit cards but I had to go with him and I was scared to death! Soon after we were arrested and charged with felony murder, malice murder, and armed robbery. The Cobb County District Attorney waited until I turned 18 to try me by an all white jury not one of my peers. I was convicted and sentenced to life plus 15 years ran concurrent. I have been up for parole twice and have been denied. I have deep remorse for participating in such a heinous act. I believe I have served my time and would be an asset to society. I cannot change the past but I can definitely prevent future youth from making the mistakes that I have. Thank you for reading.- Starsha Scott.
