My name is Ivy. I'm a eleven year old girl in Australia who loves basketball. Lots of my friends are REALLY good at basketball. They train just as hard as the boys but the professional basketball pathway isn't equal and fair.

I am hoping by signing this petition we can all effect positive change  by influencing Basketball Australia to further reduce the pay disparity and poor conditions between females & males in professional Australian basketball

Currently the pay difference between male and female professional basketballers in Australia is approx. 31.4%. Many female basketballers are having to supplement their incomes by studying, working 2nd and 3rd jobs and travelling internationally or nationally to play all year around. This huge sacrifice can mean never having time for their bodies to rest or to spend time with family and friends.

My teachers (and mum!) tell me that to make change we all need better understanding so I have recorded an indepth podcast about this issue as part of my year 6 project. You can find the link here - https://qrco.de/bdIr1J

I will present this signed petition to Basketball Australia.

In the meantime, you can further support Australian women basketballers by:
- turning up and watching a game like the Sydney FIBA World Cup in September;
- turning on and watching women's basketball on Kayo and ABC;
- engaging with WNBL, WNBL1 teams and athletes social media;
- sponsoring players or teams;
