About 40% of all food produced is wasted, of that, 53% comes from commercial and institutional places! When food is thrown into the garbage it is unable to break down due to the lack of oxygen. This causes landfills to fill up faster than necessary. If commercial food industries are given the resources (ie. composting bins and a collection service they don't have to pay for) this will reduce unnecessary waste significantly making for a cleaner, greener future.
