Caleb Yang started this petition to The Online Citizen

The Singapore government has fined and punished the online citizen for posting articles that defame and may disagree with the government in the hope of truths. It is hard for newspapers and alternative magazines to maintain press integrity and reporting the truth at the expense of sueing a newspaper company to bankruptcy.

The Singapore government is a powerful entity that tries to silence any alternative voices that do not agree and support what they are working on. The solution we can spark change in keeping the government accountable is to be honest about truth and not attacking its citizens earning a lifelihood. If the newspaper had deliberately committed a mistake, does using legal lawsuits to sue the publishing and editter out of business right fair in making Singapore a great destination for doing business?

The Online Citizen may be honest in sharing the truths about issues and criticizing the government. Honest and ethical journalism may symbolize criticizing the party about issues. However, we are still in the midst of gaining support for the Singapore government to recognise journalism that is fair and present a alternative viewpoint in Singapore.

Please sign this petition to support press and journalism freedom in Singapore.
