Imani Naitore started this petition to The Office of the President and

The Nairobi Expressway is a 27 Km road being built elevated above the existing road between Mlolongo and Waiyaki way and ending at Redhill Road in Westlands. Why is it a problem?

1. The Chinese company that's building the expressway, China Road and Bridge Corporation or CRBC, has an international history of fraud and was under EACC investigation in 2018 for inflating the price of a project. The CRBC says one kilometre of the expressway will cost 3.2 billion Shillings. Thika Road cost 600% less

2. Businesspeople are being forced to abandon their investments with no prior notice, no discussion with the government and no compensation plan in place. This is a violation of their rights

3. The government did not engage the public in decision-making for this project yet we will be forced to pay for the road for decades to come.

4. Uhuru Park is losing land to the expressway and many trees have already been cut down to make way for the construction. The iconic Mugumo tree in Westlands is one of the trees under threat.

Sign this petition and remind the people responsible (NEMA, the President, the Ministry of Transport and Alfred Mutua) that they should be working for your interests and put wananchi first. Until they do, construction of the expressway should be halted.
