Subject: Appeal for Conferment of Nobel Peace Prize to His Holiness the 17th Karmapa of Tibet
Date: 27 September 2017
Respected members of the Nobel Committee,
I am a simple Tibetan with a wish that could usher a new era of hope to Tibetan peoples who have consistently been seeking a peaceful resolution to their issue. This wish is the grant of Nobel Peace Prize to His Holiness the 17th Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorjee in 2019. This will make the 30 years of peaceful struggle of the Tibetan people lead by His Holiness the Dalai Lama who was award the prestigious recognition in 1989.
A sacred letter has revealed a boy with exceptional qualities will be born in a land in the east who will bless the world with peace and happiness for all. A search team of high lamas located a boy called Apo Gagga, born in the year of Ox,in a tent in a tiny hamlet whose birth was accompanied by many auspicious signs of multiple rainbows in the sky. He was duly revealed as Karmapa, the Knower of Three Times, and carrier of Buddha's activities, the oldest reincarnated lama in Tibet stretching back 900 years. Enthroned in 1992, the 17th Karmapa entered Tsurphu monastary to undertake rigous training to fulfill his role as a messenger of peace. In 2000, His Holiness escaped to India due to restriction in Beijing-controlled Tibet to follow his teacher HH the 14th Dalai Lama. Since then, His Holiness lived in India as a refugee, spreading message of peace.
His Holiness the Karmapa is the hope of the Tibetans across the world to take the Tibetan struggle ahead after the 82-year-old His Holiness the Dalai Lama who is now slowing down his hectic schedule along the passing of time.
Moreover, in the larger sense, HH the 17th Karmapa is a force for peace in the current world increasingly battered by conflict of countless variety from racial to religuous, from the political left to political right, and so on. In this turbulent ocean of our world today, His Holiness brings with him a calming effect. An award of Nobel Peace Prize to HH Karmapa has the dual potential encouraging harmony in the world on one had, and giving the clear message that the right-thinking citizens of the world stand by the non-violent struggle of the Tibetan people.
