We, the undersigned strongly support Senator Lesniak's legislation, S 881, to provide expanded eligiblity of treatment for non-violent drug offenders in lieu of prison.

Only 8% of the individuals who graduate Drug Court are reconvicted within three years of graduation. The reconviction rate for individuals coming out of prison is 43%.

Drug court is the solution needed to save lives, heal families, make our communities safer, and save millions of dollars now misspent on imprisonment.

By addressing the substance use disorders of individuals entering the criminal justice system, we reclaim thousands of individuals to live as responsible parents, hard workers, taxpayers and law-abiding citizens.
