For Fela's musical prowess and genius, he created a genre, THE AFROBEATS which till today is still very hard to follow, his prophetic and philosophic lyrics were and are still unmatchable. Fela struggled for the common people of Nigeria and Africa, he was persecuted and imprisoned for these in the hands of the Nigerian military governments, yet he did not relent in his fight for the people, the common man against oppression by their governments. He was a multi instrumentalist, composer, prophet and a philosopher. He contributed immensely to not only to Nigerian, African and the world music, but to social and political justice by bringing awareness to these issues through his music and his actions. He was known worldwide in the age where there was nothing like social media, he did all these through his music and his actions. Many musicians around the world in his time and today celebrated Fela and continue to do so. There is so much to write about this great man but space will not permit him. It is therefore necessary to immortalize him and rightly so. For these reasons and many more Fela should be immortalized, therefore the National theater in Lagos should be named after him.
