Petitioning The National Trust to ban all shooting on their land during the current Bird Flu restrictions.
WE DEMAND THAT IN THE INTEREST OF NATIONAL SAFETY ALL GAME BIRD SHOOTING IS BANNED TO STOP THE SPREAD OF H5N8. ALSO THAT THE NATIONAL TRUST FOLLOWS THE LAW TO THE LETTER AND BRINGS IN ALL PHEASANT FEEDERS THAT ARE ACCESSIBLE BY WILD BIRDS
Not all birds are shot dead, some will move onto other areas and risk spreading Bird Flu. They can provide a wildlife reservoir of the disease for some time, for the sake of wildlife and any potential future human infection, shooting of game birds MUST be stopped
The UK is one of 14 Countries in which the H5N8 bird flu strain has been found in poultry and wild birds. Defra (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) have put into place precautionary measures where poultry keepers throughout the UK must keep their birds inside for 30 days. There are millions of game birds ( 50,287,533 registered in 2013) https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/314715/pub-avian-gbpr13.pdf
