Keep opiates and pain relief medication for chronic pain sufferers.
Why this petition matters
Chronic pain comes in many forms and many diagnosis, from chronic back pain, to fibromyalgia, m.s etc new guidelines from NICE are trying to stop the use of pain relief including opitaes which help many chronic pain sufferer lead a somewhat normal life, i myself suffer with fibromyalgia along with other hidden disabilities, opiates have given me back some sort of life, while they don't take all pain away they give a quality of life back we wouldn't have without them, i fear the stoppage of this is taking us back to being told its all in the mind as they are saying to give out antidepressants instead, which i have tried and many chronic pain sufferer has tried to find out they do not work. It is not in our minds, the pain we feel is real, we have so much stigma attached to our conditions already and we are still not fully understood by our health care professionals or the government. We are constantly told we are addicted to pain killers or its in our minds to name a few things, please help keep pain relief medication a viable option for sufferers because without them we have no quality of life and there will be alot more deaths by suicide when people are suffering immense chronic pain for the rest of their lives with little to no prospect of any relief.
