Get Joe Carter Back on the Ballot for the Hall of Fame

Any kid who’s has ever played baseball, always dreams of winning the World Series with a home run in front of a roaring home crowd. This has only happened twice in the history of Major League Baseball. The first time was in 1960* by Pittsburgh Pirates legend Bill Mazeroski at Forbes Field. The second time was during the 1993 World Series. On October 23rd at the Sky Dome in Toronto, against the Philadelphia Phillies, the Jays were trailing 6-5 and Joe Carter was up to bat at the bottom of the 9th inning. With a count of 2 Balls, 2 Strikes, 1 Out, with men on first and second base, Carter was facing Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams, who Carter had a 0-4 record against. With the entire nation of Canada watching him and resting on his shoulders, Carter smashed a home run that was heard not only in Toronto, but across the country.

Joe Carter had the privilege of being a player who was directly involved in winning the two World Series for Toronto. The first was on October 24, 1992 at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, when at the bottom of the 11th inning, 2 Outs and a man on 3rd, The Atlanta Braves were trailing the Blue Jays 4-3 , and Otis Nixon at bat was tasked with saving the Braves. Nixon made a valiant effort, however his bunt was picked up by Jays pitcher Mike Timlin, who in turn threw it to Joe Carter at first base, tagging it and clinching the very first World Series for the Toronto Blue Jays and any Canadian baseball team. I remember those two events like it was yesterday, as do millions of fans. It's a crime that Joe Carter was not selected for the Hall of Fame when he lost the ballot in 2003, and won't be considered for it again.

I want you, fans of not only the Toronto Blue Jays, but the fans of the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, Baltimore Orioles, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, Wichita State University, or any team Joe Carter played for to get involved and make a change. He is a true gentleman and a great player who deserves to be inducted. We need to petition BBWAA to get Joe Carter back on the ballot and we need to get him inducted into the Hall of Fame.

I am going to make it my mission to send emails and this petition to the BBWAA. You can do the same by contacting members of the BBWAA on LinkedIn, by searching for BBWAA and will bring back names of writers, please do not harass them or insult them, just bring awareness.
