When a child is diagnosed with autism; it is devastating to the entire family. And certainly -when that child has severe learning difficulties, with no language- it is cruel to continuously assess that young person; because the experience is extremely distressing to a young person with autism,  and consequently to parents; family and friends, who will enter into another grieving period, for the person that appears to be lost - to autism.

"Autism diagnosis is for life; and the benefit assessnent should be for life."
