Teenage pregnancies have been on the rise in Kenya. The current statistics shows that over 400,000 girls have dropped out of school due to pregnancies for the last one year. It is the high time that the national assembly comes up with a law to protect these girls. The perpetrators are old men enough to be the fathers of these young girls. The lives of these girls have been messed for a very long time and unless some punitive measures are taken these girls will continue to be abused physically,emotionally and mentally. Teenage mothers have been ignored by law and isolated by society since time immemorial. Those who impregnate these children dump them and threaten them. My plea is whoever impregnate  a teenage girl should serve a jail sentence of not less than 2 years and be compelled to take the full responsibility in educating the mother and taking care of the kid until they become of legal adult age.I am also petitioning the national assembly  to come up with modalities on how to enrol all the teenage mothers in the country back to school. The government's 100% back to school formula is not favourable to teenage mothers. Once these girls drop out of school due to pregnancies, their positions are given to other students hence making it impossible for them to secure their places back to school once they give birth. They also suffer alot of stigma and discrimination if they are lucky to get a chance in their former schools. I am there pleading with the national assembly to look into this matter seriously and come up with a law that will protect the teenage mothers in kenya.Teenage mothers rights are human rights too.
