Many nurses are working as frontlines with minimal Personal Protective Equipments and no Risk Allowance. Many are working longer hours and taking care of a lot of patience which causes a burnout and are only rewarded words like “thank you for your service” Without a consideration that of their well being. Nurses that lose their lives from COVID-19 deserves additional compensation for they died in line of duty.
Frontline nurses put their family members at risk, so at least with the extra money they can take care of their family members and pay for additional medical bills. When a nurse gets COVID-19, it means they have to be home, they can’t work overtime, therefore their monthly salaries can’t cater for all their financial needs. All nurses are risking their lives, so all should be compensated the same. A mere “thank you for your service” is not worth the risk they are taking. So it is much appreciated if the nurse who are the heart of all health care systems around the world, would be compensated for their hard work, dedication and determination. Being a nurse doesn’t mean that they are expendable and that risking their lives is “just” part of their jobs. Many nurses are dying and replaced then forgotten. Nurses Lives Matters.
