The Essendon Gem & Lapidary Club is a not for profit organisation for people with an interest in gemology, fossils, minerals and jewellery making. We have approximately 130 members ranging in ages from 8 to in the 70's of many nationalities and abilities from local and surrounding areas. We run classes in polishing stone, Gem faceting, silver smithing. Our club assists local scouts and cubs earn their craft badges, in a fully inclusive and family friendly environment. Unfortunately we are facing eviction by the Moonee Valley City Council without consideration or an alternative premises, due to the "redevelopment of the cross keys reserve, the existing pavilion will be demolished and the clubs space no longer available " The Essendon Gem & Lapidary Club has operated from the same premises for over 30 years and in that time have maintained and improved the premises at the expense of only the club members, not Council funding.           Please sigh our petition and show the Moonee Valley City Council that the Essendon Gem Club is not only relevant but also important to the community, thank you all
