Fellow citizens, it’s heartbreaking to know that rape is on an extreme increase in Liberia. In fact, according to a UN Report, rape is the second highest reported crime in Liberia. Most rape victims are trapped in injustices, some are wounded to death, while investigations are rarely done. In recent days Odell Sharman, a Liberian High School Student was allegedly gang-raped to death, on February 3, little Vievien; a 13-year-old child was also gang-raped to death in New Georgia, Montserrado county. Until then, the government of Liberia through the Ministry of Justice and the Liberian National Police have failed to provide investigative report of these cases.
To involve ourselves in taking practical actions and reducing the unprecedented death rate caused by sexual abuses; a group of Liberian Human Right Advocates are requesting the Liberian National Police to carryout rapid independent forensic investigation to ascertain the death of Odell Sharman and others.
Kindly help us petition the Liberian Government to take action now! Too much of rape is too much.
