Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this petition for Mr. Abdul Khader Puthiyangadi whose permanent address is in Kasaragod District, Kerala. He was arrested by the UAE Police from his residence in Dubai on Thursday, 22 April 2021.
He has been working in Dubai for the past five years as a technician. During his initial days in Dubai, he used various social media platforms to propagate his faith in Islam as he was a strong believer of Islam. His interactions with rationalists encouraged him to learn more about his religion and revisit the Islamic texts which he had already learnt from Madrassa. However, from the past few years, he turned into a freethinker and used social media to express his new views as he had done earlier among his Malayalam speaking friends and known people.
His current views on religion garnered him enmity from various Islamic organizations in Dubai. He is currently in the custody of Dubai Police. The compliant was initiated by the Islamic organizations. He used the Islamic texts to express his views on modern human values.
After 18 days of police custody, no charge was made against him till now. So we request the Government of India to take necessary action through the Indian Embassy in Dubai to bring him back to motherland safely.
Yours sincerely,
Muhammed Ashraf C
