Defence members protect the nation's freedoms and beliefs. If Defence members with Christian beliefs are no longer able to practice them publically, the entire basis of the Australian Defence Force must be called into question.
Christians have always served bravely, openly and with pride in this nation. They should be allowed to continue serving our nation with distinction in the future.
Recently, the Chief of the Defence Force wrote to Major Bernard Gaynor expressing his intent to terminate his commission due to the public expression of his Christian faith. This is despite Defence investigations clearing Major Gaynor of all unfounded allegations put forward by the Head of the Defence Force Gay and Lesbian Information Service, resulting from Major Gaynor's opposition to Defence support of sexually-explicit behaviour in front of children at the 2013 Mardi Gras, amongst other things. On 30th June, the document was signed terminating Major's Gaynor's commission.
