As you probably have heard, the MVS community suffered a tragic loss several weeks ago with the passing of Jon Idle, Class of 2015. Jon was loved by the MVS community and was incredibly involved in MVS athletics. Currently, the tennis courts at MVS remain nameless and we, on behalf of the MVS Alumni Community, would like to propose to the Board that the tennis courts be named in memory of Jon Idle, Class of 2015. Jon was an amazing tennis player, but more importantly a loving teammate and friend. Jon exemplified the MVS core values with his impeccable integrity, his endless grit, his appropriate but joyous celebrations, and his unfailing kindness that he demonstrated through his sportsmanship.
With Jon being taken from us much too soon, we feel that it is both appropriate and honorable to recognize Jon’s life and his positive impact on the MVS community. Jon was a role model and he truly loved MVS: both its culture and its people. Jon always came to school with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. He touched the lives of all who knew him and made the MVS community a little bit brighter each day. It was an immense privilege to be able to call him a classmate, but even a greater privilege to call him a friend.
As demonstrated by the overwhelming amount of support from the signatures obtained in support of this proposal, we feel that naming the courts after Jon would be a respectful and appropriate manner to honor his memory and contributions to the MVS community.
If you agree and believe that MVS should honor the memory of Jon Idle by renaming their tennis courts please consider adding your name.
