Support Mendham Township Volunteers

Dear Mendham Township Committee Members,

As citizens of Mendham we recognize the important roles that volunteers play in ensuring that our Town is the best that it can be. The Mendham Township Committee does not seem to recognize this and has decided that the Recreation Commission, the Planning, Board, and the Zoning Board should be abolished and reorganized, without consulting any of these groups. These boards are made up of volunteers, our neighbors, who are on these groups simply because they want to help maintain our community as a great place to live.

It is our belief that this process, one that would have a tremendous impact on our community, should be carefully considered and thoroughly vetted to ensure that all of the facts are presented. Not crammed through during the last month of the 2017 term as the Committee is attempting to do. We applaud Committeeman Gisser for raising the issue of how quickly this far-reaching ordinance is being pushed through and we hope that the rest of the Committee will also understand the issues that we have with this. If they see an overwhelming public outcry over this.

Mendham is a small town, we all know each other and it is this close knit community bond that has made this such a wonderful town. We hope that the the Township Committee remembers that Mendham is only as great as the people who volunteer for the community; that by eliminating these boards with such haste and lack of planning, they will be going against the will of this community and against the best wishes of it.
