Heatherdale Pavilion Action Group started this petition to Cr Sharon Ellis (The Mayor of the City of Whitehorse) and
  • The current facilities at Heatherdale Reserve are not fit for purpose
  • The pavilion is used by approximately 1,000 local active club participants plus families and opposition clubs from five sports clubs including: Heatherdale Cricket Club; Heathmont Jets Junior Football Clubs; Mitcham Eagles FC; Donvale Crusaders FC and Heathmont Jets Netball Club (“the Clubs”) as well as other community groups;
  • The Clubs are leaders in female participation across their respective sports with no female change rooms;
  • Hundreds of women are forced to use one female toilet during club events
  • The Local Community needs this project
  • Together, the Clubs and council officers have worked hard and jointly invested over $100,000 to develop a first rate, shovel ready project
  • But for the COVID-19 State of Emergency, the project would have been approved with works commencing in October 2020
  • The State is going back to work and construction and infrastructure projects have been identified as being critical to providing employment and local economic stimulus
  • Over 35% ($2m) of the Total Project Cost ($5.74m) has been committed by the Federal Government as a result of the Clubs’ efforts
  • The State government has allocated $2.7b for Shovel Ready construction projects in recognition of this type of activity’s impact on local economies
  • THIS PROJECT IS SHOVEL READY
  • We need the Whitehorse Councillors to proceed to leverage the commitment by the federal government to get local people working and local businesses trading?
