The future of Stratford Circus is under threat - Tell the Mayor of Newham what Stratford Circus means to you!

The Mayor of Newham has announced plans to close Stratford Circus – a much-loved community arts organisation.

Stratford Circus welcomes 145,000 visitors per year and is a successfully run organisation, bringing in £1.6m of external money which allows it to carry out its work with the people of Newham - young people, families, schools, older people and the wider community.

Its loss will come as a huge blow to Newham and to the whole of east London. Many of us remember our first experience of the arts in this building. Many of us attend with our families. Many of us appreciate the support and sense of community it provides for older people, and for the lonely.

So what will happen to the building? The Mayor wants to use the whole site for a new youth zone. While Stratford Circus completely supports the Mayor’s vision to increase access to culture for Newham’s young people, we dispute the suggestion that the best way to do this is to throw a thriving community arts organisation out of the building it has helped to make such a great success, across the generations.

Please sign and share this petition, tell the Mayor not to kill off a thriving arts organisation. Tell her what Stratford Circus means to you and ask her to commit to securing its long-term future in the building.
