Why the petition? I’m putting this petition forward to address the continual taxation of our community! Yes, we all understand that taxes are a necessity to maintain services in the community but at what point does taxation become unreasonable? 
Over the past 15 years, LC taxpayers have faced an exponential tax increase while seeing lower/poorer service levels AND an organizational structure that does NOT benefit its taxpayers. 
What we are saying is; We the people are no longer willing to pay for sub standard services and or for paying for services we have never received. 
The process of tax increases has become way too easy and the District has become very reliant on this seemingly endless revenue or money - our property tax increases. 
Over the past 3 years, our community along with the rest of the World, has faced many great challenges. Not only have our Neighbour’s lost their jobs, their businesses and their homes but some have even lost their retirement savings just trying to survive this unprecedented event. We have had to budget and to second guess purchases as this is troubling times for us all. All except the District it seems. They have increased taxes by 15%, PLUS the road tax, given wage increases, multiple promotions and even new employee hires. Other communities had hiring freezes and put other cost cutting measures in place, why didn’t we? 
This petition is long overdue!! The Mayor and Council need to be accountable for controlling costs and better align with economic conditions. We want the things we were promised! We want the services we have already paid for! We want full disclosure! We DEMAND a council that listens!
