The Govt of India started excellent initiative of promoting digital transactions in all walks of life. Digital payments also make lives of the citizens much easier and the concerned departments also are not supposed to keep large number of persons, as the transactions are made digitally.
However, it's painful to note that despite the fact that the cost of making digital transactions is drastically lesser than making manual transactions, the concerned organsations, instead of offering discounts on digital transactions often levy additional charge, namely ' Convenience Charges'.
This goes against the plans of the Govt and also are contrary to the economies of scale. Sad to see such charges when you book movie ticket on web or at many other places. Because of imposition of such additional obnoxious charges, the push for the digital transactions, which ought to have been there in the system, takes a back seat.
I feel that even if discounts are not offered on digital transactions, at least unwarranted 'Convenience Charges' should be forthwith stopped.
Would request all to support.
